Segment #1 Committee members suggested these preliminary recommended projects during a meeting held on April 1, 2020.

Committee Preliminary Recommendations: Interstate Upgrade Projects

• Upgrade US 287 to Interstate: Kerrick to Stratford (approx. 12 miles)

• Upgrade US 287 to Interstate: Stratford to Cactus (approx. 14 miles)

• Upgrade US 287 to Interstate: Cactus to Dumas (approx. 7 miles)

• Upgrade US 87 to Interstate: Texline to Dalhart (approx. 28 miles)

• Upgrade US 87 to Interstate: Dalhart to Hartley (approx. 7 miles)

• Upgrade US 87 to Interstate: Hartley to Dumas (approx. 18 miles)

• Upgrade US 87 to Interstate: Dumas to Amarillo (approx. 38 miles)

• Widen I-27 from 4 to 6 lanes: Amarillo to Canyon (approx. 13 miles). Already programmed, not fully funded. South of SL 335 is funded. North of SL 335 is not funded.

• Texline Relief Route Study around the city

• Dalhart Relief Route Study around the city

• Hartley Relief Route Study around the city

• Stratford Relief Route Study around the city

• Cactus Relief Route Study around the city

• Dumas Relief Route Study around the city

• State Loop 335 Relief Route off US 87, extends along west side of Amarillo. A planned and programmed project. Not fully funded.



Committee Preliminary Recommendations: Safety/Operational Projects

• US 287 at US 54: Improve intersection in Stratford

• US 87 at US 54: Improve intersection in Dalhart

• I-27: Improve curves within Hale County (near Hale Center)

• I-27: Improve roadway drainage between Hale Center and Abernathy
